Two 18' diameter Solar blankets on Odysee II Pool

Here is the pool with both 18' diameter solar blankets in place. With the 2 blankets in place there is an overlap that I will cut to cover the remaining curve. Complete Solar Blanket cost = $80.

Hayward Pump, Filter, Salt Chlorinator and Gas Heater

Here is a photo of all our pool equipment on a 4' x 8' concrete pad. The Pool Builder and Gas fitter recommended we locate the equipment as close to the gas meter as possible to reduce costs of running gas lines all over the yard. I had to move a few boxwood shrubs and all the electrical needed to be at least 1 meter away from the gas metre, but it worked out nicely. The following is a list of all the pool equipment. (from left to right in the photo)

1. Hayward Pro Series Sand Filter Model # S-244T2 (300 lbs)
2. Hayward Super II Pump Model # SP3007X10A
3. Hayward Turbo Cell T-Cell-15 for pools up to 40,000 gallons
4. Hayward H Series Natural Gas Heater Model # H250 FDN
5. Haywrard Goldline Aquarite Salt Chlorine Generator AQR-CUL (white box mounted above)

Filling the Pool with Water

Our pool took 3 truck loads of City Water. At $175 per Truck Load the total cost to fill the pool was $525.

Concrete bottom and 4' high steel walls.

Here is a photo the day after they poured the concrete at the bottom and walls at deep end of the pool. I have video of the workers assembling the steel walls as well and will post to this blog.

The Big Dig - PoolBuildersOttawa.ca

We hired PoolBuildersOttawa.ca and they dug the hole in about 5 hours. Our soil is clay and luckily they didn't hit any rocks. The weather was nice and dry which was also a good thing because in the rain the clay makes an absolute mess. The pool is the 18' and 30' "Odysee II" shape from Highbury Pools.

Pool Liner - Grey Raleigh from Highbury Pools

One of the toughest decisions was choosing a Pool Liner. After much reserachwe went with the Grey Raleigh from Highbury Pools and are very happy with the color.

All about my in-ground pool

We had a company install a 18' x 30' in ground pool for us here in Ottawa Canada. We are very happy with the results and will post photos of the Construction as well as the many questions we had and decisions we made along the way. Thanks for dropping by to read our blog.
